Former Bury St Edmunds player Chris Benjamin has had a meteoric rise in the professional cricket world.
He played for Bury St Edmunds 1st XI in the East Anglian Premier League in the first half of the 2021 season. After performing well for Warwickshire 2nd XI he got a chance to play for Warwickshire 1st XI, did well, and was then drafted into the Birmingham Phoenix team for their first match in the new Hundred competition. Chris Benjamin grabbed his chance hitting 24 runs, including two audacious boundary sixes, to take Birmingham Phoenix to victory.
