Rain reduces cricket played

Another disappointing weekend as rain reduces the cricket played. The 1st team game at Copdock was abandoned with a few overs bowled and 4th team game at Woolpit never commenced. However the Victory Ground hosted two Saturday games the 2nd team played at home to Dunmow in damp overcast conditions when fielding first often provides an advantage and so it proved as the home team were all out for 140 Alan Barker top scored with 41 and Cameron Ford who scored 21 it was good to have Xander Brown (16) playing for the first time this season.
Dunmow reached the target with 3 wickets taken. Mel Hussian always does well against Bury scoring 44.
Bury’s 3rd team had a better day again losing the toss and being invited to bat against Mildenhall’s 4th team it was Sam Harrison (48) and brother Danny (56) that set a good target of 165.6 in the 30 over encounter. Bury bowled well with 2 wickets each for Hamidullah Kharoti (2.18) Tom Wright (2.15) and captain Danny Harrison (2.22) as Mildenhall reached 136.7 Adam Horrex remaining 64 not out.
Greene King and Byron Burger Player of the week Danny Harrison.
Hopefully plenty of mid-week and weekend cricket coming up. On Saturday the 1st team are at home to champions Swardeston the 2nd team are away to Haverhill the 3rd team at home to Melton St Audry’s and 4th team away to Workington’s 2nd team.
On Sunday the 1st team are at home to Long Melford and 2nd team away to Hadleigh.
