Four teams playing Saturday and Sunday team in action

Bury travelled to League 2025 winners Sawston and Babraham with three players out injured and a further two unavailable these included Josh Cantrell due to his commitments at Woodbridge School. Tom Rash lost the toss and the home side chose to bat and got off to a good start with Jackie Beaumont first out for 36 caught by Tom Davey off Ben Whittaker on 71, fellow opener Ralph Hayward followed run out by Fredrick Heldreich for 48 at 97.2. Claydon became the second of Whittaker’s four victims lbw for 25 there followed a good partnership between Danial Andrew (31) and Ethan Rice (72) taking the score to 225.4 thereafter wickets tumbled with the home side all out for 260, Whittaker taking 4.4 and Ben Harris 2.58.
Bury’s reply not for the first time at this venue started badly losing two wickets for 5 runs, Harry Gallian scored 11 and Archie Jones 20 both given out lbw. Heldreich and Harris repaired the damage taking the score to 112 when Harris was out for 42 and later Heldreich a close run out for 37, Tom Rash made 30 and Davey 25 not out but Bury were well short at the close all out for 185.
Bury’s 2nd team batted first against Worlington making 209 highlights of the innings being 82 from Sam Aldous with 26 from Adam Kizis and 22 not out from Joe Corder. Adapting to this higher league was always going to be a big challenge as Worlington proved clear winners. It was good to have former Bury player Sean Cooper back at the club and he bowled as mean as ever taking 2.24 off 10 overs. Colin Dwyer taking 5.35 that included a superb delivery to Graham Napier. Arthur Summer was out caught by Corder off Aldous (13) and Graham Ford was out caught James Sturgeon off Corder for 33 but excellent batting by Andres Bester (79 not out) and Dwyer 77 not out ensured the visitors reached the target.
Bury’s 3rd team welcomed the Real Oddies for their first ever match at the Victory Ground, despite the availability and injuries the club managed to field 4 teams and in this match the visitors scored 276 on a superb pitch their opener Samen Shahzed scoring 120 for the home side Ujjawal Varma taking 6.60. Bury lost early wickets which proved costly but the middle order battled well Vivek Rajagopal top scoring with 66 and Verma scoring 61 and Steve Graham 22 but ended on 204.
The 4th team captained by John Nicol were away to Stowmarket’s 2nd team which was always going to be a big challenge. The home team scored 253 with Henry Griffiths making 63 and Nick Mayhew 46 two wickets each for Jack Lee, John Pathan, Nicoll and Leo Park (2.8) Bury were all out for 154 with Kevin Dobson top scoring with 22 Jack Lee making 21 Sam Pennell 16. The important aspect of this team is to provide young players with the opportunity to play senior cricket with the support of experienced players.
On Sunday credit to Simon Aldous for getting a team together to play away to Acton in what proved a good encounter. Bury were no doubt disappointed to be restricted to 196.8 but it was good to have Janak Raj and his brother Yogesh playing. Aldous scored 37 but it was Saidur Rahman Miju with 64 that was the backbone of the innings. Darren Richardson taking 4.44.
The home side reached the target scoring 200.6 Ram Gai carrying his bat for 77 not out Zyan Imam taking 4.35.
