Disappointing Saturday but a win on Sunday

Bury St Edmunds gave a disappointing batting display away to Swardeston, 16 year old Zyan Imam making his debut scored 12 before being bowled to a very good delivery from Tom Bailey. Justin Bishop was run out for 20 and Harry Gallian added 25 but apart from a determined rear-guard action from Tom Rash (35) from 75 deliveries occupying the crease for 26 overs the score would have been less, but 144 all out was never going to be enough Saranga Rajaguru taking 4.39.Tim Ward top scored for the home side with 48 not out as they won with overs to spare.

Bury’s 2nd team were at home to Clacton who after winning the toss chose to bat against a good bowling attack. James Sturgeon batted well but lacked support as none of the top order reached double figures, these included Graham Napier who after dispatching a superb on drive was caught in the slips. Graham’s influence at the club as a coach is important with many young players able to gain a better understanding of their ability and how to improve. Sturgeon was 7th out for a patent 46 off 60 deliveries with 8 x 4 on 85. The Bury tail end batsman gave some hope as Owen Grisby scored 21 Joe Corder 22 and Isaac Walshe 13. The final total of 157 was short of what was deemed needed. Jakobus Van der Watt taking 3.18.
Clacton did not have it easy as Jatunder Singh was out caught Napier bowled Corder before a run was scored. It became 2.12 as Oscar Black took the catch again off Corder. Napier’s second catch had Imran Sheikh departing again from Corder’s bowling further wickets from Oliver Riddick and Sam Aldous (2) had Clacton at 124.6 but Charles Rumistrzwicz remained 57 not out to give the visitors the win, Corder bowled well with 3.39 and Aldous 2.17.
Bury’s 3rd team were at home to West Bergholt and bowled first on a good surface. The visitors scored 267.8 with the top 4 each scoring over 32 with Sam Frunn making 50 but Bury worked hard in the field to take late wickets. Nick Stanton taking 1.52, Dillon Bhavsar 2.32 and Vivek Rajagopa l3.57.
Bury opener Arlo Bhavsar scored 51 being well supported by Ammad Hassan Fida with 67 further contributions of 26 from Vivek and 25 from Ujjawal Verma were not enough as Burys were all out for 234 Charles Lynch taking 4.56 for the visitors.
Bury’s 4th team played away to Tuddenham 2nds in what proved a close encounter Bury won the toss and elected to bat scoring146.9 Kevin Dobson top scored with 32 Viq Ahmed making 19 and Oscan Grove 16 not out Alastair Woodland taking 3.15. Tuddenham were 3.28 5.74 and 8.130 but the final pair managed to take them to the target scoring148.8.

Wilson-Davies (52) scoring 119 for the first wicket but once they were out the innings collapsed with Zyan Imam taking the remarkable figures of 8.3.5.5 Janak Raj helping with 2.3.
Bury batted with confidence captain Sam Aldous switching the order to ensure everyone had taken a good part. Dilon Bhavsar opened scoring 25 but at 94. 5 down Bury had to concentrate as sam Hartwright (30 not out) and Aldous 31 not out steered the team home.
During the week Bury’s Under 17 team under the guidance of Sam Pennell won against Walsham le Willows Bury scoring 159.6 off 20 overs with Zyan Imam scoring 50 off 46 deliveries and Oscar Back 26 off 13. Walsham le Willows scored 100.8 with Monty Bailey top scoring with 33 Imam taking 2.13.
