Bury St Edmunds visited Swardeston in the Thurlow Nunn East Anglian Premier League, old rivals but matches always played in a good spirit, on this occasions with Three Bury players (Tom Rash, Justin Bishop and Sean Park) and Richard Simms of the home side had played for England Over 40’s a few days earlier in their win over Wales in Cardiff. Bishop became the main stay of the innings batting through to lunch with the score on 148.2 after 37 overs. After the lunch interval the home side fought back with two wickets Sean Park for 30 and Bishop for an excellent 77 off 139 deliveries.
Bury captain Josh Cantrell played some excellent shots in a quality innings of 54 he was last out with the score on 309.9 Good support from Alex Cruickshank (37) and Ben Whittaker (26) in a final total of 315.9. Outstanding bowling from Richard Simms with 5.77 off his 18 overs.
The aim was to have some wickets by tea, Jordan Taylor made a brisk 41 before Ben Harris took a superb boundary catch off Rash fellow opener Ben Shearing was out soon after for 4 lbw Harris and at 49.2 Bury were in the ascendancy former Bury player Ben France was next out for 12 caught Bishop bowled Cruckshank for 12 on 75 at tea the home side were 84.3 after tea it was Sims who defied the visitors attack four wickets fell around him and at 185.7 Bury attacked with fielders around the bat but Sims remained unbeaten on 70 with good support from Lawrence Williams with a rapid 48 scored due to the attacking field which enabled the home side a 5th batting point in a final total of 266.7 after 56 overs.
Bury’s 2nd team were at home to Dunmow and did well to restrict the visitors to 189.7 Cameron Gibson made 44 and Darman Westwood 42. 3 wickets for Jack Holand and 2 for Joe Corder, and a wicket each for Hamidullah Kharoti and Oliver Riddick. Burys innings never obtained the required momentum Max Whittaker making 28 Howland 27, Alan Barker 19 and Riddick 18 Lewis Hayes taking 5.34 in a final total of 136.
Burys 3rd team lost away to Abbertons 2nd team Bury scored 161.9 Sam Harrison scoring 39 Kush Patel and Owen Grisby 30 each the home team scored 164.5 with David Schofield making 75 not out.
Bury’s 4th team played Worlingtons 3rd team at Elveden the home teams score of 240 was in the main due to 100 from Evan Williams 4 wickets for Tom Wright and 2 for Imogen Grove and Alex Malcom. The reply was dominated by Viq Ahmed with 85, Kevin Dobson ended 32 not out in a total of 168.6
Plenty of runs in the Sunday match at the Victory Ground as Tendring Park scored 302.6 that featured an outstanding innings of 174 from Isaac Toombs who had scored a centry for East Bergholt in the Two Counties Division One the day before and two wickets each for Vjjawa Verma, Nassim Danesh and Tom Wright in a total of 302.6
Bury’s reply reached 256.7 with an outstanding 124 from James McKinney Ammad Hassan Fida contributed 43 and Tom Wright 26. 2 wickets for Toombs.
