At the Victory Ground home team captain Josh Cantrell lost the toss and was invited to bowl, this week the home team were back to almost full strength. Visitors Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers the previous week scored no less than 477 at home to Frinton with Australian Jayden Draper scoring 250 off 155 deliverers along with Jack Tarling (170 not out) in a record stand of 420 for the 3rd wicket. Lucky for Bury, Tarling was not playing. Bury opened with some excellent bowling from Tom Rash and Dan Shanks with just 9 runs off the first 7 overs. The first wicket was taken by Ben Whittaker on 29 in the 12th over Kieran Spence (9) caught by Justin Bishop. Draper entered the game on the 2nd wicket when Ahmed Jamal was out bowled by Freddie Heldreich on 69.2.it was soon 69.3 Jordan Everett out caught and bowled Cantrell. Draper and Zac Tribe batted aggressively with the key moment in the game being Draper caught by Alex Maynard down leg side for 35 off not a great delivery from Dan Shanks but wickets all count this one more than most. From 117.4 Tribe and Jay Parma took the score to 152 when both were out to Whittaker and Rash respectively. The visitor’s innings stalled on a good pitch with some turn and were all out for 188. Rash returning the excellent figures of 9.1 overs 12.4. and Whittaker 32.3.
Bury's openers William Routledge and Bishop started with caution in fact by the time Bishop was out in the 17th over for 29 on 75 no less than 23 of the runs were extras that included 21 wides. Archie Jones succumbed first ball and soon after Routledge was run out for 23 from 75 for no wicket Bury were 77.3. Harry Gallian and Cantrell batted with care before Gallian was out for 20 at 106.4. There was still plenty to do but Maynard became the star turn as his captain anchored the innings these two reached the target Cantrell being not out 28 but Maynard became a man in a hurry 64 not out with 7 x 4 and 3 x 6. Jay Parma with 2.31 was the pick of the visitors 8 bowlers. A good win for Bury who stand 4th in the EAPL table.
Not so great for Bury’s 2nd team who are finding promotion to the Two Counties Division One a big step up. Hadleigh scored 327 with Thomas Piddlington making 115 Isaac Walshe taking 4.45 Bury ended on 95.9 having lost Rob Lee to injury.

Long Melford stated well making 122 for the 1st wicket and adding 110 for the 2nd wicket. Oliver Riddick bowled 10 overs 1.40.
The Bury reply proved outstanding Riddick and James McKinney putting on 214 for the 1st wicket as Riddick was out for 94, McKinney batted on and was out on the penultimate delivery with the scores level for a terrific 139 with just one delivery remaining probably a tie would have been fair but Ammad Fida and Hamidullah Kharoti scrambled through for a bye to win the match by the finest of margins.
