Cold damp Saturday with just two games.

It was an unsuccessful day on Saturday for Bury St Edmunds with both 1st and 2nd team losing and the 3rd team game at Earl Stonham cancelled. The day was cold and wet with the 1st team game being played at Sawston and Babraham in the Thurlow Nunn East Anglian Premier League delayed with a 2.30 start and a game of 30 overs. Stand in captain Tom Rash lost the toss and was asked to bat a bright start with 27 runs was ended with Nikethan Radhakrishan out caught in the deep. Alex Maynard made a useful 30 but wickets fell at regular intervals, Ben Whittaker scored 16 and Rash was unlucky to be out for 17, Alex Cruickshank made a useful 20 in a total of 118. Sawston in reply lost early wickets to Whittaker and Mark Smith but Suffolk players Jack Beaumont and Ben Claydon remained unbeaten as the hosts reached the target.
A longer game on another excellent pitch at the Victory Ground as Bury St Edmunds scored 191.6 off 40 overs James Sturgeon top scored with 60 putting on 79 for the first wicket with Justin Bishop (36) the highlight was some excellent batting by 14 year old Josh Owen with 26 that included 2 x 6, Adam Kizis scored 17 but the score was short of what was required on the day visiting bowler Will Robins taking 4.28.
Braintree scored 71 for the first wicket and were indebted to Chris Leech who remained unbeaten on 62. Josh Owen took the first three wickets to turn the game from 71.0 to 77.3 with figures of 4.1.27.3. Vivek Rajagopal took two wickets and Joel Johnson two catches at 166.6 James McKinney bowled Chris Walker for 46 and the home side were in with a chance but opener Leech helped steer the visitors home with the score 193.6.
