Get Set Weekend 2026, powered by Toyota kicked off on Saturday 28 March with Bury St Edmunds and very many clubs across England and Wales gearing up for two brilliant days of community spirit, teamwork and pre season preparation.
More than 1,800 clubs have registered - and the ECB are on track for the biggest Get Set Weekend ever.
At Bury St Edmunds the outdoor nets have had a good clean, the wheeled covers made ready for use.
More than 30 volunteers took part in a range of activities that included washing the large sight screens, some of the advertisment boards and bringing the boundary rope into place ready for the first match which will be on Saturday April 11th. On Sunday April 12th a second pre season friendly will place as well as Sporting 87 Veterans football on the second ground.
The pitches look remarkably well after a difficult winter but plenty of rain has given good grass growth. The new artifical surface erected at the end of the second square will be a big advantage in the season ahead.
This week the club takes delivery of a new electronic scoreboard for the main pitch, this will be a great addition with the opportunity to live stream Saturday matches on the main pitch.
Still more to do but a good start.
